Introduction to the USDA Collaborative Pathway Fellowship Program

The USDA Collaborative Pathways Program, funded by the USDA, aims to cultivate the next generation of leaders in nutrition, food science, and dietetics, with a particular focus on underrepresented groups. This program is hosted by the Marilyn Magaram Center at California State University, Northridge.

Program Components

• Fellowships & Financial Support: The program offers funding for undergraduate and graduate fellows in the form of scholarships, up to $5,000.
• Mentorship & Advising: Fellows are paired with faculty, peers, and professionals for ongoing guidance in academic and career development.
• Experiential Learning: This component helps bridge the gap between classroom knowledge and real-world application. Students engage in hands-on experiences in nutrition, dietetics, and food science, preparing them to become innovative, community-focused professionals.
• Professional Development & Training: Workshops are provided on leadership, communication, and career mentorship. Additional training opportunities include ServSafe, Cultural Humility, Bod Pod Certification, InBody 270, ESHA, and Healthy Growers.

Eligibility & Application

The program is open to undergraduate and graduate students majoring in nutrition, dietetics, food science, or related fields, with priority given to students in nutrition, dietetics, and food science. To apply, students must submit an application form and email their resume along with two letters of recommendation.

Events and Activities

The program includes various events such as the Pinning Ceremony, which celebrates the completion of programming and internships by students. A Peer Mentoring Program is also available, where mentees and mentors can showcase recipes developed as part of the program.
